HIS CHILDHOOD 

The heroic General Waqo Gutu was born to Gutu Usu Cammarri and his mother Dhuulloo Ali Hassan in 1924 in Oda area of Madda Walaabuu district. His father Guutuu had ten sons and nine daughters, a total of nineteen children. Among them, General Waqo had 49 children from seven women, of whom fifteen are not alive. As of  2015 he had sixteen females and eighteen males totaling thirty four children.

General Waqo has had a passion and hatred for the enemy since childhood. In 1938, before he married and left home, while his father unknowingly sold his father's livestock and bought a gun. His mind is oppressed by slavery he is not a recipient and organized his friends' to bet the government’s police.

THE BEGINNING OF THE STRUGGLE

In 1943, General Waqo drew inspiration from Muhammad Gada Qallu and actively resisted slavery. Then, in 1952, a descendant of the Raitu clan named Ali Jilo, whose Christian name was Shaalaqa Isaiah, donned a police uniform despite his impoverished status. He fervently prayed for forgiveness, and after receiving a dress, he bravely entered the city, confronting and intimidating the Native kitties, who were the enemy. Engaging in covert operations against these hostile groups, they displayed remarkable strength. Consequently, in 1958, they successfully eliminated two policemen. Fast forward to 1999, after the fateful killing of the policemen, Waqo unexpectedly crossed paths with Shaalaqa in Nageelle.  "Where are you lost, Waqo?" the Shaalaqaa asked. He quickly responded "the white honey that you love you asked me for you, I have no money to buy it, so that is why I am bringing you these cattle." Shaalaqa was very happy and gave him 200 birr. With the money he bought bullets.
